The Relocation Bureau was asked to provide relocation services for the Managing
Director of a large, international manufacturing company. The director and his
wife were to move from an executive neighbourhood in North Carolina, USA to
Surrey in South-east England.
The
additional challenge was to bring his wife's pride and joy, a 7 year-old Bavarian
stallion to the UK as well. Once in the UK the horse would need a suitable
stable and trainer, and a continuation of his dressage training. Locating a
stable that would house a stallion proved a little difficult as many will only
take mares. Understandably, Mrs P. would only house hunt once the stabling
was secured, and there were a few anxious days of stable visits and "interviews".
With stabling secured, The Relocation Bureau conducted a home search for the
couple, and were able to find them a suitable home within 10 minutes of the
stables, which fulfilled their requirements.
The
horse was to be brought from the US to the UK on a chartered flight with a company
that was used to dealing with the air transportation of animals. We used
William J Barnes of New Jersey, one of the world’s leading air transportation
companies for large animals such as horses.
To ensure adequate insurance cover, an inspection and subsequent report by a
vet was arranged before travel, to satisfy the requirements of the insurance
company.
Having
successfully arranged for the transportation of the horse from North Carolina,
to specially selected new stables in this country, and settled the couple in
their new home, we then set about locating and acquiring suitable office space
for this UK start-up.
The horse arrived safely and has now settled into his new surroundings, much
to the relief of the Director and his wife. The company is thriving, and has
recruited staff locally.
